The latest, up-to-the-minute Holden area headlines:

WORCESTER - A 22-year-old Worcester man charged in the fatal stabbing of a woman he did not know was ordered held without bail at his arraignment yesterday in Worcester Superior Court.

WORCESTER - The City Council has long had an unwritten rule that its members are not supposed to divulge any details of what is discussed behind closed doors in executive sessions. For the most part, past and present council members have honored that rule, though leaks were known to happen.

WORCESTER - A man died last night in a three-alarm fire on Haynes Street despite the heroic effort of a next-door neighbor who tried to rescue him.

Almost three years after his death, Worcester native Robert P. Apkarian continues to be recognized by the scientific community for his efforts in the field of electron microscopy.

It's only natural that Shirley A. Clemence-Phillips would want a carbon-neutral, environmentally friendly heating and cooling system for her new modular home on Clemence Hill Road in Southbridge.
